Jake Edmonds
Managing Director
Jake has been at the forefront of film safety since the mid 1990s and his knowledge and expertise have become much sought after by major film studios and minor productions alike.
He is well known in the industry and studios such as Warner Bros. have employed his services since 1997 to the present day, overseeing many major blockbusters including all 8 Harry Potter Films, Fantastic Beasts, Wonder Woman and Batman to name but a few.
His ability to communicate at all levels is one of his key skills which is important when dealing with diverse and sometimes delicate situations.
Jake provides safety solutions in the UK and abroad.
Jason Curtis – MSc, CMIOSH
Senior Occupational Health & Safety Advisor
Jason has over 25 years experience within the entertainment sector covering Film, Television and live events that is underpinned with qualifications and experience gained in the construction and transport sectors.
He has written safety policies for large and small organisations both within and outside the entertainment sector.
Jason is also a City & Guilds qualified trainer and has developed and delivered training courses as well as carried out hands on roles in rigging across the construction, standby, electrical and underwater disciplines. Jason is an Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) Practitioner.
Leah Chalk – BSc, Tech IOSH, EnvDipNEBOSH
Business Operations & Finance Director
Leah is a founding member of MSL and has been with the company since 2004.
Employed previously as a Financial Investigator at the Serious Fraud Office, and within Financial Systems at the NHS, after achieving her NEBOSH General Certificate & Specialist Diploma in Environmental Management, Leah is now MSL’s Business Operations and Finance Director.
Jen Compton-Chalk – Affiliate of IOSH
MSL Office Support, Training Coordinator, Display Screen Equipment (DSE) & Pregnant Worker Risk Assessor
Jen joined MSL in 2005 and along with providing office support, she coordinates MSL’s very busy training schedule and writes and develops courses, liaising with accrediting bodies such as Screen Skills and IOSH. Jen has advanced DSE Assessor and NEBOSH General Certificate qualifications and is Media Safety Ltd’s Display Screen Equipment (DSE) & Pregnant Worker Risk Assessor and is the go to person if you need any advice or assessments carried out.
James Clarke – GCGI, Tech IOSH
Health & Safety Advisor and Trainer
Jim joined Media Safety in 2011 and has assisted MSL with many film and media projects. Jim delivers Qualsafe First Aid training and IOSH Safety Management courses and is a very popular trainer. In his previous working life, Jim was a project engineer in the Building Services Industry with over 40 years industry experience. Jim also holds a British Sub Aqua Club advanced scuba diving instructor qualification. In his spare time, Jim is a senior officer with the Army Cadet Force and is responsible for the health, safety, wellbeing and training of over 600 adults and cadets.
Kevin McGill – CMIOSH
Health & Safety Support
Kevin has provided Health & Safety support to Media Safety Limited on various projects here and abroad since 2011. He is a former member of the United States Military where he gained experience in hazard identification & risk management in areas such as hazardous materials, fire prevention and the management of plant and equipment.
Today, Kevin is a proud member of a number of professional bodies were he maintains his continued professional development (CPD) with bodies such as IOSH, The Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) and The Institute of Fire Safety Managers (IFSM), where he holds member status and is a Tier 2 registered Fire Risk Assessor.
He has spent many years working in the construction industry where he was engaged from the enabling works part of a development, through to estates management for high rise buildings providing support through the life of a development.
Kevin is an experienced operator having gone through the transition with The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM 2007) into (CDM 2015) where for the first time inclusion of the TV, Film & Entertainments industry was captured within the regulations. He has worked on a number of major films in the UK and abroad, and today can be found on the Occupational Safety and Health Consultants Register (OSHCR). He is a keen keep fit fan and enjoys running / boxing and cycling.
Rob Townsend – Tech IOSH
Health & Safety Advisor
Prior to joining MSL in 2019, Rob served as a Physical Training Instructor in the British Army. He went on to serve 17 years in the London Fire Brigade as a frontline Firefighter and during this time, he was able to work as a private Firefighter and Safety Advisor within the Film & TV industry, also briefly working as a Background Artist and cast Stand-In from time to time. Rob has completed both his NEBOSH General Occupational Safety qualification and his NEBOSH Fire Certificate. He continues to provide safety support on a number of major productions here in the UK and abroad.
Mark Pitkin – Tech IOSH

Mark joined MSL’s H&S consultancy team in 2019 after spending over 22 years in the London Ambulance Service as a Paramedic and a further 16 years providing medical support to the private and Film & Media sectors. Mark is a Technical Member of IOSH having gained his NEBOSH Health and Safety Management for Construction (UK) and NEBOSH Certificate in Fire safety and is an affiliate member of The Institute of Fire Safety Managers (IFSM). Mark is currently working towards L5 diploma in Fire Safety. Since joining the team, Mark has been providing Health & Safety and Fire Risk Support to Major Film & TV Productions in the UK and abroad.
Andy Parry – Tech IOSH
Health & Safety Advisor
Following a distinguished career in the Parachute Regiment and then the construction industry, Andy joined MSL in 2005.
Andy has been a Lead Safety Advisor for major blockbusters such as Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts, overseeing production H&S from start to finish. Andy also carried out training for Crew in Working at Height & Manual Handling. More recently, Andy now specialises in Production Drone H&S Support.
Tony Willetts – Affiliate of IOSH, FInstLM
Health & Safety Advisor
Prior to joining MSL team in 2020, Tony had a long and successful career in the British Army, where he specialised in risk management in high risk and remote environments and was an accident investigator. After the Army he was a senior operations manager and safety consultant in a number of sectors, including working on Productions in the UK and overseas.
Tony is a member of The Institute of Fire Safety Managers (IFSM) were he holds member status and is a Tier 2 registered Fire Risk Assessor and provides Health & Safety and Fire Risk Support to Studios and Film & TV Productions.
Harry Harmsworth
Health & Safety Advisor
Since joining MSL in 2025, Harry has provided Health and Safety support across Film and TV productions in the UK. His early career included roles in post-production with the BBC and Deluxe Digital Studios.
He has over a decade of management experience across construction and corporate sectors in the UK and internationally, operating at project, operational, and area-management levels, overseeing multi-site projects, teams, and client portfolios.
Harry holds the NEBOSH Construction Certificate and is currently working towards the NEBOSH Diploma.
Paul Barratt – Tech IOSH
Health & Safety Advisor
Paul has worked on a number of high profile Film and TV productions as a Safety Advisor with MSL and arranging for recommissioning buildings for production use as well as scaffold inspections.
Prior to joining MSL, Paul was a partner in a successful Building Services company utilising his skill set developed as a Project Engineer (Electrical) with one of Europe’s largest Building Services companies.
Paul holds NEBOSH qualifications as well as keeping his Electrical qualifications current.
Mark Pearson – MSc, Cert IOSH
Health and Safety Advisor
Joining MSL in 2022, Mark is a highly qualified and accomplished technical Health & Safety and Risk Management professional with over 20 years commercial experience gained in the Oil and Gas Sector and more recently Film & Media industry. Prior to his commercial career Mark served 15 years in the British Army and has extensive experience of planning and managing risk reduction and Safety Management for high-risk projects worldwide.
Mark has supported numerous productions covering drama, live performances, factual, entertainment, features and news broadcast productions. Mark has many notable credits for Amazon, the BBC, C4, C5, Disney, HBO, ITV and Netflix.
Mark is also a Qualsafe Mental Health First Aid Trainer, Medical First Responder and qualified Commercial Diver and lives in rural Northumbria, enjoying renovating the family farm and outbuildings in his spare time.
Marc Coram – CMSE, CECE & FS Tech
Health & Safety Advisor
Joining MSL in 2023, Marc is a time served electrical engineer with a heavy industrial background. Marc has over 30 years’ experience across the process, pharmaceutical, aeronautical and construction sectors. Specialising in Process and Machinery Safety, holding Machinery Safety Expert accreditation from TÜV NORD and Functional Safety Technician from TÜV Rheinland.
Marc is currently H&S Advisor on a major Film Production based in Hertfordshire.
In his spare time Marc can normally be found with a spanner or ratchet in his hand in the pursuit of motor vehicle happiness.
