jakeJake Edmonds - Managing Director

Jake has been at the forefront of film safety since the mid 1980s and his knowledge and expertise has become much sought after by major film studios and minor productions alike. He is well known in the industry and studios such as Warner Bros. have employed his services since 1997 to the present day, overseeing many major blockbusters including all 8 Harry Potter Films.  His ability to communicate at all levels is one of his key skills which is important when dealing with diverse and sometimes delicate situations. 
Jake provides safety solutions in the UK and abroad.


Jason Curtis - Senior Occupational Health and Safety Advisor


Jason has nearly 20 years experience within the entertainment sector covering Film, Television and live events that is underpinned with qualifications and experience gained in the construction and transport sectors.  He has written safety policies for large and small organisations both within and outside the entertainment sector.  Jason is also a City & Guilds qualified trainer and has developed and delivered training courses as well as carried out hands on roles in rigging across the construction, standby, electrical and underwater disciplines.







Leah Chalk BSc Tech IOSH SpDipEM  -  MSL Accounts

Leah is a founding member of MSL and has been with the company since 2004. Employed previously as a Financial Investigator at the Serious Fraud Office, and within Financial Systems at the NHS, after achieving her NEBOSH & specialist diploma in Environmental Management, Leah is now currently in charge of MSL Accounts & management of operations.

James Clarke GCGI Tech IOSH -  Trainer & Safety Advisor

Jim joined Media safety Limited as a Safety Advisor at the start of 2011. Since joining he has worked on a number of high profile projects, such as Jack the Giant Slayer, Edge of Tomorrow, Jupiter Ascending and more recently The Secret Service.

Jim is also a qualified trainer and assessor and over the years has delivered training on a wide variety of subjects, such as First Aid, Working at Height, COSHH and Manual Handling. He is currently heading up MSL's  First Aid training and is currently rolling out new First Aid courses following MSL's recent registration as a Qualsafe Awards training centre. In his previous working life, Jim was a project engineer in the Building Services Industry with over 35 years experience.  


Mick Sh

Mick Sheehan MIIRS MPGDip FdA - Safety Advisor

After spending several years in the Military Mick became involved in Security & Crowd Management dealing with large crowds at outdoor events. He attended The Scarman Centre to study Risk Management and is a member of the Institute of Risk Management as well as IOSH. Mick has several years’ experience in the MENA primarily working as a security contractor and then as a Tier 2 medic. He is currently studying for a diploma in Health and Safety and a certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management.




Keith Murray - Safety Advisor

Keith first qualified as a Health and Safety professional more than 25 years ago. Since then he has progressed his professional qualifications and service offerings in Fire Safety Management and Environmental Management. He held the role of Principal Risk Manager at the BBC and has supported (strategic and shop floor) the loss prevention, business interruption and contingency planning operations of leading worldwide brands in the media, film, entertainment and estates management industries.  

He defines his workplace role as a service provider that is: customer focused, adds value and is ‘Enabling not Preventing’.



Paul Barratt - Safety Advisor

Paul joined us here at MSL in 2013 specifically to look after the building facilities and safety for the Fox TV production 24:Live another day, and has since worked on a number of high profile Film and TV productions as a Safety Advisor and arranging for recommissioning buildings for production use.

He has also maintained involvement with the construction industry from a safety aspect with projects such as the Warner Bros Studio tour expansion project and development of a number of High Specification apartments in North London.  Prior to joining MSL, Paul was a partner in a successful Building Services company utilising his skill set developed as a Project Engineer (Electrical) with one of Europe’s largest Building Services companies.

Paul holds both his NEBOSH qualifications as well as keeping his electrical qualifications current including BS7671 (IEE wiring regulations 17th edition) and BS7909 (Code of practice for temporary electrical systems for entertainment and related purposes).

Jen Compton-Chalk - PA & Office Support 

Jen joined the company in 2005 and provides office support to the team. 

She coordinates events, training, media / technology and production accident database reporting.  Jen is Media Safety Ltd's DSE Assessor and is the go to person if you need DSE advice or assessments carried out. 

Jen has a creative flair and brings this to all she does - more recently in creating marketing material for our training courses.

Kim Bradford - HR

Kim is an HR professional with over 17 years industry expertise, covering all aspects of generalist HR and employee relations.  Her specialisms include organisational design, employment law, policy / process design and review, mediation, design and delivery of training programmes, talent and recruitment management, and performance interventions.  

Kim provides tailored support and advice to MSL's team, and also runs her own small consultancy.  Her experience in human resources has been gained from a very broad set of industries, from small start-ups to big brand names across media, IT, banking / finance, retail, research organisations, aviation, logistics and non-profit.
